Featherlite:  Cresco, IA –  Design Engineer

Worked in Research & Development department developing and improving custom and standard product related to the trailer industry.  Was responsible for developing concepts, designing for manufacturability, and sourcing components.  Implemented SolidWorks as standard solid-modeling software, trained new users, and acted as SolidWorks CAD manager.  Was a top ten beta tester for both 2006 and 2007 releases.  Other responsibilities included troubleshooting, testing, and finite element analysis using CosmosWorks.  (July 04-Present)

Positech-Solutions:  Laurens, IA – Sr. Design Engineer

Worked as a mechanical engineer designing material handling equipment.  Responsibilities include designing manipulators and custom tooling using current versions of Solidworks and Autocad.  Worked directly with customers, vendors, sales, and manufacturing to develop custom equipment on both a timely and economic basis.  Was responsible for projects from concept to shipment.  Member and leader of several teams for product and process improvement, cost-cutting, and engineering standards and guidelines.   Secondary responsibilities included acting as Solidworks Cad Manager and basic IT support.  Gained skills in design, stress analysis, and project management.  (August 99-July 04)

OTC, SPX Corporation:  Owatonna, MN -- Engineering Internship

Worked under professional engineer, assisting him with design projects.  Other responsibilities included various types of paperwork, finding suppliers, and working as an engineering draftsman on Solidworks and MicroStation CAD software packages.  Was introduced to the responsibilities of a design engineer, geometric tolerancing, solid-modeling, ASME standards, ISO, and the design process.  (Summers 1997-98)

Computer Skills

Have experience working in DOS, Windows (from Windows 3.11 to Vista), Unix, Linux, and Mac OS.  Familiar with Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, CosmosWorks, Autocad, and various other programs, CAD and otherwise. Extensive experience in building, repairing and maintaining personal computers.
